Moderation Tab
You can access the moderation settings by clicking on the 'Moderation' tab under 'Settings' in the dashboard on the left side, while in Noice Studio. Within, you'll find all the options related to channel moderation:
Settings & Roles
Here, you have the ability to:
- Enable or disable ban appeals for players/viewers after they have been banned.
- Easily add moderators by clicking on the "+ Add Moderator" button and entering their tag or name:
Automod
When Automod is enabled, chat messages with severe bullying, references to real-world violence, provocative sexual conversation, strongly vulgar language, and some hateful slurs will go into your channel's Automod queue. Noice will always moderate content for areas such as child exploitation, spam, porn, severely hateful language, hateful incitement, and real-world violence:
Banned Users
You can also check the list of banned users in the "Banned Users" tab. Banned users cannot access your channel or make purchases in your channel store:
In-Chat Moderation
When moderators are viewing the stream from Noice Studio, they have several options for dealing with unsavory characters in chat. They can Block, Report, Mute, or Ban users who are being disruptive in chat. Clicking on any username in chat will bring up their avatar. Clicking on the 3 dots will bring up moderation.
Block User
Blocking a user prevents any visibility or interaction from them going forward. When clicking on Block User, you'll get the following window that explains this further.
Mute User
Muting a user will prevent them from sending any messages in chat for a set duration of 2 minutes, 10 minutes, or 24 hours. You'll also be able to notate a reason for the mute. Clicking on the Mute User button brings up the following window.
To unmute a user, click on their username in chat and bring up their avatar again. You'll see the banner has been updated with the remaining time on their current mute. Clicking the 3 dots will now include the option to unmute.
Ban User
The Ban User button will prevent a user from sending messages in chat and viewing stream altogether. It also allows for the mass deletion of any messages that the user has sent in chat. Clicking on this button will bring up the following window.
As mentioned before, if the option to delete messages is toggled on, the chat will erase every message sent by the user. This is what that looks like:
To unban a user, simply click on their name and navigate over to the same 3 dots, the options to unban will appear.
Additionally, if the user feels like they have been banned unfairly, they may submit an appeal to be unbanned. Then the creator or moderations can reach a final decision regarding their ban. To see if there are any pending appeals, click on "Moderation" on the left hand side of Noice Studio. Then click on "Banned Users". Any outstanding appeals will be marked with a green "Open Appeal" icon, as shown below.
